Who we work for

Three ways in

Selling a car

Tell us the car. We find the people most likely to buy it: dealers asking for one, collectors who have bought one, buyers abroad who can take it.

  • A free Buyer Snapshot first, with no obligation.
  • Nothing listed in public unless you ask in writing.

Looking for a car

Tell us the car you want. We look for it, including cars that are not advertised, and show you what similar cars have sold for.

  • With your OK, we add it to our wanted list, without your name.
  • Independent inspection and title checks before you commit.

Dealers and auction specialists

Dealers: we bring buyers for a car in your stock, here or abroad, or find the car your customer wants. Auction specialists: we act for owners and bring bidders to your sale.

  • We never ask a house for a share of its fees.

Discretion

Discreet from the first call.

Nothing about your car is published unless you ask in writing. You stay anonymous until you choose otherwise.

For sellers and buyers

How a private sale works

Six steps from the first message to the car changing hands. We reply the same day, or the next morning at the latest.

Start with step 1
  1. 1

    Talk to us

WhatsApp, email, the form or Ask the Desk, below.

  2. 2

    Your Buyer Snapshot, free

How many likely buyers we have found for the car, what kind and where, and how many similar cars have sold recently. No obligation.

  3. 3

    Terms in writing

One page: who we act for on this car, the fee, who else pays the Desk, and how long we act. You pay only if it sells.

  4. 4

The full brief, and we start

The named buyers, the evidence for each, and what buyers have paid. We approach them personally and quietly.

  5. 5

    Checks

The buyer's independent inspection, the papers and the title, before anyone commits.

  6. 6

    Completion

The buyer pays the seller directly or through an escrow service. We never hold the money. Our fee is invoiced when the sale completes.

Step 2 and step 4

The Buyer Snapshot, then the full brief

The snapshot shows that we have found buyers. The full brief names them, once terms are agreed.

Plus your routes and dates: auction, private sale, and any auction house period that applies.

Free, in the snapshot

  • How many buyers, of what kind, and where
  • How many similar sales
  • Your routes and dates

In the full brief, after terms

  • Why the car is rare, from the maker, a registry or the auction catalogue
  • Each buyer by name, with the evidence they fit
  • What buyers paid, one real sale per line
  • Which countries can take the car

Selling at auction

We work alongside the auction house

We act for the owner at each stage of an auction sale.

  1. Consigning6 to 10 weeks before the sale

The right sale, at the right numbers

    Free

    • The Buyer Snapshot for your car.
    • The full brief.
    • Making the case for the description, reserve and estimate with the house.
    • An honest view of auction against private sale for this car.
  2. Catalogue outUntil bidders register

    Bringing bidders to the sale

    Free

    • The Buyer Snapshot.
    • The owner's campaign: introducing our named buyers to the house, personal outreach, a guide for buyers abroad, and chasing registrations.
  3. After the hammerIf the car didn't sell

Finding the buyer for an unsold car

    Free

    • The Buyer Snapshot.
    • While the house's post-sale period runs: bringing our buyers to the house, each one introduced in writing.
    • After that period, if the owner wants a private sale: we find the buyer and run it.

The house always knows the Desk acts for the owner, and the owner pays the Desk. We never ask the house for a share of its fees.

Our fee

You pay only if it sells. The fee is agreed with you in writing before we start. No upfront fee, no retainer.

The rules we keep

How we work

  • We are a broker. We never own the car and never hold your money. No cash changes hands in a sale we run.
  • Before anything is signed, you know in writing who we act for on that car, and who else pays the Desk.
  • If one of the Desk's owners wants to buy a car the Desk is selling, we tell the seller first, in writing, and stop acting for them on that car.
  • Discreet by default. Nothing about your car is published unless you ask in writing.
  • We work alongside the auction houses. While a car is in a house's post-sale period, we bring buyers to the house, not around it.
  • We use public information about a car and never try to find out who owns it. Owners reach us themselves, or through their auction specialist or dealer.
  • No one bids, buys or signals interest for us to move a price.
